Is WinForms the Dinosaur of Programming?

Seeing this comment at DevExpress community forums where a suggestion has been in the system for over 3 years makes me wonder, not having a go at you DevExpress, however I would say that I am noticing a big swing to ASP.NET/SL/WPF, WinForms development seems to be slowing down (exceptions being controls that are used in the other technologies, such as XtraCharts, XtraReporting, XtraScheduler etc).

All I can assume is your demographics is showing a big swing in this direction and therefore assigning your resources to reflect that (good business sense). Just a bit disappointing for us WinForms peoples. I will say that this seems to be same with alot of the big component guys so as I said no major criticism to you.

Makes we wonder if I am becoming a Dinosaur instead of trying to be a Crocodile, the dinosaurs didn't adapt and died, the crocodile evolved and survived, maybe I need to stop my "web apps are not fool proof enough for business" stand, and start shifting my efforts to the "Web 2.0" space. SL has me very curious as it takes the browser out of the equation (much like Flash did) but still uses VB.NET lanuage making it hopefully an easier migration.

I note that Chris Walsh (@ChrisWalshie) a DX Squad member seems to be knee deep in SL, and Microsoft is now on it's third generation of the technology showing that they are putting alot of resources into it as well.

Umm... any suggestions on good, How to light up your development with Silver?
